I was raised in Nebraska but have lived in the eastern, southern, and midwestern U.S., Canada, Denmark, and Iran. Currently I teach a college curriculum in computer science and mathematics to gifted teenagers at the Oklahoma School for Science and Mathematics, a competitive boarding school in Oklahoma City where no student pays tuition, room or board. My undergraduate education involved mathematics, sociology, pre-med, and languages (the kind people speak). I have a Ph.D. in a specialty that intersects mathematics and computer science. I have taught both subjects through the M.S. level, published two books on computer programming, served on the editorial board of the Journal of Software Maintenance, and written shrinked wrapped software. My publications include two books. My wife and I enjoy art house films, classical music, and regular exercise including Pilates. Part of my week is devoted to managing a small stock portfolio and to working as a CASA volunteer. Occasionally, I play the oriental board game known simply as Go. A few years back I created six daily goals which I try to live up to. | |
