I was raised in Nebraska but have lived in the eastern, southern, and midwestern U.S., Canada, Denmark, and Iran. Currently I teach a college curriculum in computer science and mathematics to gifted teenagers at the Oklahoma School for Science and Mathematics, a competitive boarding high school in Oklahoma City where no student pays tuition, room or board. My undergraduate education involved mathematics, sociology, pre-med, and languages (the kind people speak). I have a Ph.D. in a specialty that intersects mathematics and computer science. I have taught both subjects through the M.S. level, published two books on computer programming, served on the editorial board of the Journal of Software Maintenance, and written shrinked wrapped software. My publications include 50 pages in refereed, international journals. My wife and I enjoy art house films and classical music. You will find my personal philosophy of life here. My most visible eccentricity is that I walk up and down stairs while reading for an hour every day. | |
